Love Letters to the Sea:
Love Letters to the Sea provides opportunities for the public and school children to use their art and words as power for global change: as Jacques Cousteau said, "People protect what they love.” Love Letters to the Sea empowers participants to act as a voice for the ocean, creating political change and ocean protection. The hand written letters are a balance of poetry & political notions with an emphasis on formal letter construction. The heartfelt letters & recycle envelopes, hand decorated with marine creatures, will be delivered to world dignitaries & global decision makers by Jean-Michel Cousteau of Ocean Futures Society and Jack Johnson Environmentalist/Musician.

We are creating unique Love Letters to the Sea & will be screening the documentary "The Smog of the Sea" at various events throughout the community in 2017.

“The Smog of the Sea” artistically chronicles the 1-week journey through the remote waters of the Sargasso Sea with marine scientist Marcus Eriksen. The crew consisted of renowned surfers Keith & Dan Malloy, musician/environmentalist Jack Johnson, spear-fisher Kimi Werner, and bodysurfer Mark Cunningham who all became citizen scientists on a mission to assess the fate of plastics in the world’s oceans.
